My personal motivation to exercise stems mainly from the promise of traveling to a new location. Each year I pick a destination and find a race I can run. While finishing a half marathon feels euphoric, enjoying that race in a beautiful setting, a fun destination, or with the promise of a really excellent bonus at the finish line, makes it all the more worthwhile.
I was terrified, even though my husband assured me I’d skied more challenging terrain before and would make it down from the precipice of Squaw Valley's Siberia Bowl in Lake Tahoe, Calif. That was nearly 20 years ago, and such has been our skiing relationship ever since. Our blissful honeymoon in Lake Tahoe was followed by season after season with him challenging me on the slopes, and me fighting it.

The past few months have been a whirlwind of travel for me and my family. Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania and Maryland were just some of the states I covered!
We headed out to the sledding trail. The dogs were barking excitedly, almost leaping - chomping at the bit to get a move on. They seemed like a bunch of little kids whose parents told them they have to wait 30 minutes after eating to swim. I could see these beautiful Siberian Huskies couldn't wait to go.
Black Tie Ski Rental arrived at our vacation home in a van stocked with ski equipment of various sizes and brands. They spent time with each person in our group (a total of 11 people) to make sure everyone got the right fit. But I wasn't waiting around in any lines. I gave them my boot to be fitted to the rental ski bindings, then I was off to finish my chicken pot pie.
