11 Days On the Road: The Highlights

My family’s 11-day road trip across America is complete! We started in New Jersey and are now living on the north shore of Lake Tahoe in California. We’ll be here a couple months before we embark on another cross-country driving adventure to get home.

Planning a road trip of that magnitude took a lot out of me. There was the constant stress of navigating, finding places to eat, ensuring we arrived at each attraction on time, and making the call to change plans when the family wanted to stay in one place longer or we were simply overtired. Looking back, it all played out better than I could have asked for and we have some amazing memories to cherish. Here are the highlights, Instagram style.

  1. I would love to take such a trip myself. You’ve seen so many incredible places. And actually we were just talking about Tahoe with some friends yesterday. I’m dying to go there one day… :)

  2. I was following your trip as you took it. Have fun in Tahoe. And take the more northerly route on your way home – we’ll welcome you in Iowa!

  3. That looks like an amazing & activity packed holiday! We’ve been enjoying New Zealand for the past five weeks or so but we’ve mainly stayed put, and only done small road trips from our base in Rotorua. It definitely takes more planning (and driving) to do a long road trip, it does sound kind of tempting though despite all the hassle of preparation! :)

  4. What a great trip. I loved your photos. It’s great that you can move across country, stay a few months then pack up home. You got to see so many things people miss by flying.

  5. 11 days is pretty fast pace! We’ve done quite a many road trips, the longest one being from Colorado to New York, and we took several stops on that one… Lovely photos!!
