Carved out of the stunning terrain of the American Southwest, the small city of Page, AZ, sits atop Manson Mesa and offers outdoor enthusiasts plenty of excitement. While the city overlooks the 186-mile long Lake Powell, that’s just one of the best Page Arizona attractions.
Hikers, bikers, boaters, kayakers, and climbers will all be captivated by the lake, canyons, arches and historical Native ruins.

This fantastic trail surrounds the city of Page and offers incredible views of Lake Powell, Echo Cliffs, Glen Canyon, and more. I participated in a half marathon on the trail and truly loved every view, every moment!

Horseshoe Bend
You’ve probably seen photos of Horseshoe Bend on an “American the Beautiful” calendar. It’s an iconic spot that is one of the most photographed vistas in the Southwest.
Perched on the edge of a sheer sandstone cliff, Horseshoe Bend offers a panoramic view of the Colorado River as it curves gracefully around a massive bend.
There is ample parking at the site (for an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle) and it’s just a short 0.7 mile walk to the overlook. The trail is partially paved, well-maintainted, and accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
Waterhole Canyon or Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon is another photographer’s dream location. And super fun for the average hiker to wander through the steep, sheer walls!
But getting a tour of Antelope Canyon can take some planning due to its popularity. Instead, we took a tour of Waterhole Canyon on Navajo tribal land. This location is less crowded, and just as amazing.
You’ll travel through time as you walk along the mesmerizing sandstone canyon with narrow passageways and shafts of light filtering through the narrow openings above. My family loved this experience as well as the education we received from our Navajo tour guide.
Glen Canyon Dam
Standing proudly over the Colorado River, this massive concrete structure not only serves as a crucial source of hydroelectric power but also offers fascinating insights into the region’s geology and history.
Take a guided tour of the dam to learn about its construction, visit the Carl Hayden Visitor Center to discover the ecosystem of the Colorado River Basin, or simply marvel at the sheer scale of human ingenuity against the backdrop of the canyon walls.
Lake Powell
For many, Lake Powell is the highlight of coming to Page, AZ. Spanning across the border of Arizona and Utah, Lake Powell is a vast reservoir renowned for its crystal-clear waters and towering red rock formations.
Whether you’re into boating, fishing, or discovering hidden coves and sandy beaches, Lake Powell offers endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation with cruises, boat rentals, and kayaking expeditions.
Since we visited Page in October, it was a bit past lake season. We drove along the lake and enjoyed a couple scenic overlooks. But I can honestly say that there are enough things to do in Page even if you don’t spend time on Lake Powell!
Best Restaurants in Page, Arizona
We tried several restaurants in Page and there were a few clear favorites!
Lake Powell Espresso was our go-to for breakfast in Page. The had a full menu of coffees and teas with many seasonal specialties. Their food and pastries were also excellent – I enjoyed the breakfast burrito and the cookie butter Belgian waffle!
Hot N Sweet Donuts is also a great stop for delicious donuts and yummy breakfast sandwiches.
For lunch or dinner, do not miss Bird House! It seems like a fast food place and I had my doubts when my son wanted to stop in. After looking at the menu, I was expecting a knock-off Chick-Fil-A. I was wrong.
BirdHouse in Page had the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Real chicken, super juicy, with crispy skin that’s perfectly spiced. The fries and dipping sauces were a hit, too. A local we met in line said this was best the place to eat in Page, and I have to agree.
Big John’s Texas BBQ is another restaurant we visited twice. My husband isn’t a big fried chicken fan, but he looooves a good BBQ.
When you drive through town, you can’t miss seeing and smelling the smokers out in front of Big John’s. There is indoor and outdoor seating, the food comes fast, and the sauces are yummy.
We loved the ribs, pulled pork, cole slaw, and corn bread. They also serve up homemade sweet tea and creamy, hand-scooped ice cream in delicious flavors.

Another excellent option is the Hyatt Place Page Lake Powell. This hotel has great outdoor areas and the views are spectacular!
There are also tons of fantastic apartment and home rentals at Vrbo.
The friendly city of Page is the perfect home base for your outdoor adventures, whether you find yourself wandering through the surreal landscapes of Antelope Canyon, cruising along the tranquil waters of Lake Powell, or marveling at the natural beauty of Horseshoe Bend.
